Arne Garborgs plass 4
The building must be inviting and in good interaction with surrounding buildings and urban spaces. The library opens to the city with public entrances from street level in three directions, west, north and southeast.
building will have a specially built facade, which will ensure optimum use of daylight and minimal heat loss. The facade consists partly of transparent window panels and partly of translucent walls. The change between open and closed in the facade creates variety and excitement in the library's interior while safeguarding the project's strategy for reduced energy consumption.
Environmental objectives are set for the project, requiring the building to be a leader in terms of energy efficiency and reduced greenhouse gas emissions. The new main library in Oslo has a passive house level, and are project projects in the FutureBuilt program.
